Maui

And after Kauai, the Big Island and Oahu we release today a new destination in Hawaii: Maui. Maui is formed by the convergence of two volcanoes at the isthmus known as the Central Valley. The green West Maui Mountains are the eroded slopes of a single extinct volcano, that time has carved into steep canyons, accessible at just a few places, such as ‘Īao Valley. A road skirting the mountain’s southern flank leads to historic Lahaina and the coastal resorts of Kā‘anapali and Kapalua. East Maui is composed of Haleakala, an enormous dormant volcano crowned by a lunar landscape, now a National Park. You can enjoy a varied landscape, from Kula’s farmland to the arid, eroded crater of Haleakalā and the lush, tropical vegetation on the windward coast. Continue reading “Maui”

Big Island, Hawaii

waipio, Hawaii, USA

Today we release a new island in the Hawaiian archipelago: the Big Island. It is home to Mauna Kea, a dormant volcano that towers over the Hawaiian Islands. It is also one of the world’s best sites for astronomy; 13 telescopes representing nine countries cluster at its summit. The Big Island’s Ka Lae is the southernmost point in the United States, and Parker Ranch is one of the largest privately owned ranches in America. Hilo is the country’s rainiest city. The lush tropical forests, the expansive lava flow deserts, the sun-drenched beaches and the towering mountains make the Big Island a real paradise for nature lovers.

Both East and West Hawai‘i Island provide good bases for touring. Hilo is well situated for excursions to the Hamakua Coast, Mauna Kea, the Puna district, and Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park – a highlight on any visitor’s itinerary, with Kilauea Caldera and its active lava rifts. From Kailua-Kona on the island’s west side, there is access to the South Kohala resorts to the north, the Parker Ranch country of Waimea, Kona coffee country to the south, and many well-preserved ancient sites, including Pu‘uhonua O Honaunau. Pololu and Waipio wild valleys on the north shore offer the most dramatic landscapes and hiking opportunities. Discover and enjoy these and many more destinations in our app.
