West of Austria

This month we are releasing an amazing destination for nature and also for art lovers: the west of Austria. Tyrol is picture-postcard Austria. Although the mountains naturally are the highlight, there’s a surprising amount of urban tourism: Innsbruck, and around it, the historic Inn Valley towns of Stams, Hall and Schwaz all reward visits, while the resort village of Seefeld and the Stubaital both give easy access to glorious landscapes. The deep, mountain-fringed Zillertal and Ötztal are among the most dramatic, and this is where you’ll find many astonishing hiking routes. The main resorts are Kitzbühel, Mayrhofen and St Anton.

At Vorarlberg, Bodensee, at the northwestern edge of the province, is the main tourist draw in summer, and the lakeside town of Bregenz the area’s touristic centre. To the west is the Bregenzerwald, an attractive area with walking opportunities and a relaxing rural atmosphere and the resorts of Zürs and Lech. South of the Bregenzerwald, the town of Bludenz provides access to the Montafon, a steeply sided valley that leads to the scenic Silvretta Hochalpenstrasse. Continue reading “West of Austria”
